Prior to founding Avant-garde Health, Derek was a Project Director and Fellow at Harvard Business School, where he worked with Professors Michael Porter and Bob Kaplan on value-based health care. He has co-authored nine Harvard Business Review articles as well as numerous other business and medical articles since, and has been quoted in publications ranging from The Wall Street Journal to TechCrunch.
