Joshua Fong has extensive research experience primarily in the field of biomedical research. Joshua started their career as a Student Worker at UC San Diego - Housing, Dining, Hospitality in 2014. From 2015 to 2019, they worked at Perks Coffee Shop as a Lead/Barista. In 2017, they interned at UC San Diego School of Medicine, focusing on biomedical research of heart disease. Joshua continued their research work at UC San Diego Health from 2019 to 2022, where they held roles as a Cardiovascular Research Associate and later as a Cardiovascular Research Associate 2. During this time, they gained experience in maintaining cell lines, conducting molecular biological techniques, managing mouse colonies, and using bacteria models for cloning. From 2022 to 2023, Joshua worked at Locanabio, Inc. as a Research Associate II, focusing on RNA-targeting CRISPR therapeutics and non-coding RNA-based therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Research Associate at Avidity Biosciences, Inc. as of 2023.
Joshua Fong attended UC San Diego from 2014 to 2019, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology.

Avidity Biosciences is pioneering a new class of precision medicines – antibody-siRNA conjugates (ASC™) – to deliver nucleic acid therapeutics against genetic drivers of disease.
