Alexander Smirnov

Alexander Smirnov currently serves as the Managing Director of Legal Affairs at Avito, the leading classifieds site in Russia and the largest in the world. Prior to this role, Alexander was the Vice President Legal at Rostelecom, Russia’s largest digital services provider, where responsibilities included overseeing legal matters for government and corporate telecommunications services. Previous experience includes holding positions such as Managing Director of Legal and Compliance at the Moscow Exchange, Head of Commercial Law Practice at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, Legal Director at Russian Alcohol, Head of Legal at Eksmo, and Director of Corporate and Commercial Law Department at Renaissance Insurance. Alexander holds a Master of Law in Private International Law from Kutafin Moscow State Law University and a Candidate of Jurisprudence Science (PhD in Law) from the Moscow University of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
