Barbara J. Natalizio, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. From 2009 to 2010, they worked as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Monmouth University, County College of Morris, and Northampton Community College. Barbara J. then served as a Clinical Information Manager at Alpha Physician Resources from January to August 2009. From 2010 to 2015, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where they also served as an Executive Board Member of the Postdoctoral Association. In 2015, they became an AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the National Science Foundation, specifically in the Directorate for Education and Human Resources. Natalizio then joined the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in 2017 as a Program Officer in the Board on Higher Education and Workforce. Barbara J. worked in this role until July 2018. In 2018, Natalizio took on multiple roles, including Science Program Administration and Communications and Science Engagement at The Rita Allen Foundation. Barbara J. also became involved with the Professional Development Hub (pd|hub), where they served as the Program Manager starting in December 2020. Additionally, since 2014, Natalizio has been active in the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA), serving as a Member of the Board of Directors, the Interim Executive Director, and the Past Chair and Chair of the Board. In their involvement with Cultivating Ensembles, they served as Co-Chair of the conference in 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2019.

Barbara J. Natalizio, Ph.D. holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology from Duke University. Barbara J. also has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biochemistry and History from Montclair State University. Furthermore, they have obtained an Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy.

In addition to their academic achievements, Barbara J. Natalizio has obtained various certifications. Barbara J. is a certified MBTI Step I and II Practitioner, having received this certification from CPP, Inc. in August 2015. Barbara J. also holds a Certificate in College Teaching, which they obtained from Vanderbilt University in April 2015. Furthermore, they are a certified Emergency Medical Technician, having received this certification from the NJ Department of Health in November 2008.
