Badak LNG
Mohamad Farouk Riza has a diverse work experience in various roles and positions. In 1996, they started their career as an Inspection Engineer at Badak LNG and worked there until 2008. Mohamad then became the Manager of Procurement from 2008 to 2011 and later served as the Manager of Reliability from 2011 to 2012. In 2012, they took on the role of Manager of Machinery & Heavy Equipment, where they managed a team of employees and contractors, handled budgets, and oversaw various maintenance and repair operations. In 2015, they transitioned to the role of Senior Manager of Procurement & Contract until 2018, followed by the position of Senior Manager of Maintenance until 2020. From 2020 to 2021, they served as the Vice President of Business Support and Deputy Director of Strategic & Business Development. Currently, they hold the position of Deputy Director of Marketing & Business Development at Badak LNG. In addition, from 2014 to 2017, they also worked as the Director of LNG Academy, overseeing educational programs in collaboration with Badak LNG and Politeknik Negeri Jakarta.
Mohamad Farouk Riza's education history includes obtaining an Engineer's degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Indonesia, from 1991 to 1996. Mohamad then pursued a Master of Management in Financial Management from Universitas Mulawarman between 2001 and 2003. Continuing their education, they completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the School of Business and Management ITB from 2017 to 2019. Additionally, they attended Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in 2019 for a Program Profesi Insinyur.
In terms of certifications, Mohamad Farouk Riza obtained a Certificate of Completion in AMA's Advanced Executive Leadership Program from the American Management Association in November 2016. Mohamad also received a Certificate of Completion in Preparing for Leadership from the same institution in the same month and year.
Badak LNG
The Badak LNG Project began when HUFFCO, a Production Sharing Contractor (PSC) of Pertamina, discovered a huge natural gas reserve at Badak Field, East Kalimantan in February 1972. On November 26, 1974, PT Badak NGL, a non-profit company with the Shareholders of Pertamina, VICO and JILCO was set up. This company is entrusted to operate and maintain the Badak LNG Plant. In 1980, construction commenced on Train C and D as LNG demand increased from the Japanese buyers. The of the LPG extraction facilities in 1988. The refrigerated LPG production is also dedicated to Japanese export. Due to the continuous increase of LNG demand in Japan, Taiwan, and Korea, then Train E was constructed in 1987-1989, while Train F was constructed in 1991-1993. Since 1992 some LNG productions from this LNG Plant have also been exported to South Korea. The development of the Badak LNG Plant had been continued by the construction of the Train G that was completed in 1997 and Train H which was completed in the end of 1999. By 8 train's operation, the production capacity is able to reach into ± 22.5 million tons LNG/year. In entering the third millenniums, the Badak LNG plant has developed and able to produce the biggest LNG production in the world. Up to December 13, 2011, Badak LNG plant had shipped the 8,000 LNG cargoes. To maintain buyers’ confidence for gas reserve quantity, a 42” pipe line is added. Four parallel pipelines which able to ship 3,600 million standard cubic feet (MMSCFD) natural gas to the plant for further process. Finally, Badak LNG plant become one of LNG plants with great experience in the world LNG industry, and become a vital asset for Indonesian LNG business chain. With all abilities, and experience for more than 40 years in producing LNG, Badak LNG ready to face any challenge in the 21st century, with strong and continuous support from all parties involved in LNG business.
