Mark Novak has extensive work experience in product development and engineering roles. Mark has worked at Ballard Power Systems as a Principal Engineer, where they created and deployed IoT capabilities for embedded Linux devices. Mark also worked as a Senior Engineer at the same company, where they migrated a legacy PowerPC embedded Linux telematics system.

At H2 PowerTech, Mark worked as a Controls Engineer, developing and deploying an embedded Linux user interface for fuel cell systems. Mark also developed software to support fuel cell manufacturing.

Prior to that, they worked at ATI Specialty Alloys & Components as a Process Development Engineer, leading a silicide coating development project and designing coating equipment.

Mark also has experience as a Post-doctoral Researcher at UC Santa Barbara, where they focused on high heat flux laser testing and thermomechanical testing. Mark also worked at Cellular Technology Ltd as a Software Developer and at Caterpillar Inc as a Summer Intern.

Mark Novak received their PhD in Materials from UC Santa Barbara, where they studied from 2003 to 2009. Prior to that, they obtained their MS in Materials Science and Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, studying from 1999 to 2002. In addition to their degrees, Mark has also obtained a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from Air Academy Associates in September 2014.
