Alex Lurye

Alex Lurye is Chief Risk Officer of Balyasny Asset Management and a member of the Investment Committee. He oversees risk management across all of BAM's investment strategies, teams, funds, and geographies. Alex joined BAM in August 2018 and brings more than 26 years of experience to the firm. He previously spent 16 years at Citadel where he held several leadership roles including Chief Risk Officer and Head of Global Portfolio Construction between 2007 and 2016, and Chief Data Officer between 2016 and 2017. Prior to that, he led the global FX structured products group at Credit Lyonnais. Alex began his career in FX derivatives and quantitative research at Lehman Brothers and Warburg Dillon Read. He holds a Master of Business Administration from New York University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. Outside of the firm, Alex is a member of both the NYU Tandon School of Engineering Board of Overseers and the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools Board.
