She was formerly senior executive vice president of Economic Policy and senior executive vice president of the Treasury of the Ministry of Economy of the Spanish Government, as well as director of the Bank of Spain and the CNMV. She also held the position of director of the Instituto de Crédito Ofcial and of other entities on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Economy. She served as non-executive director of Banco Español de Crédito, S.A. and executive chairman of Sociedad de Gestión de Activos Procedentes de la Reestructuración Bancaria, S.A. (SAREB).
