Claire Whitfield has extensive experience in data protection, records management, and information governance across various high-profile organizations. At the Bank of England, Claire has served as Data Protection Officer and Head of Privacy since March 2018, following roles as Deputy Data Protection Officer and Data Protection Manager. Prior to this, Claire worked at the Bank for International Settlements as a Document Management Expert and Digital Archivist, leading digital preservation initiatives and managing archives. At the National Offender Management Service, Claire provided information management services across multiple facilities and developed strategic frameworks for data governance. Additional experience includes consulting roles at the British Council, focusing on records and archives, and serving as Records Management Officer for the World Health Organization, where Claire developed records classification plans and managed critical documentation processes. Claire holds an MSc in Records Management from Northumbria University and a BA in French and German from the University of Nottingham.
