Felix Gessert has a strong background in research and entrepreneurship. Felix founded Baqend in 2013 and served as the CEO. At Baqend, Felix and their team developed Speed Kit, a product that boosts website performance for e-commerce giants like Decathlon and BMW. Prior to founding Baqend, Felix worked as a PhD student and researcher at the University of Hamburg from 2012 to 2017. Before that, Felix held a scholarship position at Versant where they focused on advanced databases from 2010 to 2012. Felix also gained experience as a research assistant at the University of Hamburg from 2009 to 2012. Felix started their professional journey as a student assistant at Rodens Schermer und Partner in 2008.
Felix Gessert holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science from the University of Hamburg, which they obtained between the years 2012 and 2016. Prior to this, they completed a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Informatik at Uni Hamburg from 2010 to 2012.
Speed Kit
Baqend develops Speed Kit, a SaaS plugin solution to accelerate e-commerce websites by more than 50% within 2 days. Baqend is a research spin-off from the University of Hamburg on the mission of building a web without loading times. The founders pioneered a novel approach to speed up the delivery of dynamic data. Speed Kit bundles years of thisresearch in a plugin for large-scale e-commerce and brand websites, that is easily implemented by just a line of JavaScript code.Today, some of the leading European e-commerce players like Decathlon, Galeria, and BMW already rely on Speed Kit to improve their conversion rates, user experience, and SEO ranking. Since the product’s speed uplift is cleanly proven by statistically sound A/B-tests, Baqend is one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies in Germany.
