Benjamin Shafer

Benjamin Shafer is a Geotechnical Engineer at Barr Engineering Co. since May 2023, previously serving as a Geotechnical Engineering Intern at the same company from May 2022 to July 2022, where responsibilities included geotechnical field sampling and testing as well as soil classifications. Prior experience includes a Geotechnical Engineering Internship at Freeport-McMoRan from May 2021 to August 2021, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of piezometers and performing InSAR and GPS analysis for earth embankment movement monitoring. Benjamin also worked as a Dam Safety Intern at the Iowa Department of Natural Resources in 2020, conducting dam safety inspections and providing recommendations for deficiencies. Benjamin holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, both from Iowa State University, with completion dates in May 2023 and May 2022, respectively.
