Richard Braatz is currently a Technical Advisor at BattGenie. Prior to this, they were the President of the American Automatic Control Council from 2016-2021. Richard has also been Chair of the CAST division at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Control Systems Magazine, and a Consultant for a Biomanufacturing Startup Company and a Biotechnology Startup Company. From 1994-2015, they were an Adjunct Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Richard Braatz received their BS in Chemical Engineering from Oregon State University. Richard then went on to receive their MS and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Caltech. Richard is a certified AAAS Fellow, AIChE Fellow, IEEE Fellow, IFAC Fellow, and member of the National Academy of Engineering.
