Prof. Dr.-Ing. Eh Dipl.-Kfm. Thomas Bauer, born in 1955, worked in the USA after studying business administration at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. In 1982 he joined the Bauer family business. In 1986 he became the sole Managing Director of BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH and, after its re-establishment, was Chairman of the Board of Directors of BAUER Aktiengesellschaft from 1994 to 2018. There he was responsible for the departments of investments, accounting, IT, HSE and quality management. Prof. Thomas Bauer worked for many years in a wide variety of functions in associations of German business and the construction industry, including from 2011 to 2016 as President of the Main Association of the German Construction Industry and from 2020 to 2022 as President of the European Construction Industry Federation FIEC. From 2012 to 2022 he was Vice President of the Federation of German Industries. He taught at the Technical University of Munich for around 25 years and holds an honorary professorship. He has been working as a freelance management consultant since 2018.

It is divided into three business segments. The Construction segment carries out the established methods and techniques of specialist foundation engineering. It includes executing complex excavation pits, foundations for large-scale infrastructure projects and buildings, cut-off walls and ground improvements, as well as other construction, civil engineering and remediation works. The Equipment segment develops and produces construction machinery, equipment and tools for the specialist foundation engineering sector as well as other underground drilling operations.
