Mark McElroy

Chief Engineer at Benchmark Space Systems

Mark McElroy has worked in a variety of roles in the engineering field since 2006. Mark began their career as a Civil Engineer at Base Engineering Inc. in 2006. Mark then moved to Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, where they worked as a Structural Engineer from 2007 to 2011. In 2011, they joined Pratt & Whitney as a Structural Dynamics Engineer. In 2013, they began working at the University of Bristol as a Visiting Research Engineer, and also began working at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration in the same year, where they held the roles of Assistant Chief Engineer, System Manager - Fracture Control and Research Engineer. Most recently, Mark has been working as a Technical Program Manager at Benchmark Space Systems since 2022.

Mark McElroy obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University in 2005, followed by a Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 2007. In 2006, they obtained a Fundamentals of Engineering (Engineer in Training) certification from the State of Pennsylvania. Mark then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from North Carolina State University, which they completed in 2016.
