Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
Lauren Bright is general counsel and director of the foundation’s Washington, D.C. office. Lauren joined the foundation in 2005 and has held a number of positions, prior to becoming general counsel. Her responsibilities include overseeing the legal department and a broad range of legal, regulatory, and policy matters impacting the foundation. In addition, she leads general operations of the foundation’s Washington, D.C. office, which provides support and services for over 120 regionally-based staff.
Prior to joining the foundation, Lauren counseled and advocated for clients on a wide variety of legal issues related to organization and operation of tax-exempt entities including governance, compliance, contracts, and other legal and government relations matters.
Lauren received her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and B.A. in political science from Gettysburg College, where she currently serves on the board of trustees.
