Alexandra Smets

Alexandra Smets brings extensive experience in laboratory settings, currently serving as a Senior Lab Technician in Assay Development at Biocartis since March 2012, specializing in IVD molecular diagnostic assays. Prior to this role, Alexandra worked at the Red Cross Belgium from April 2010 to March 2012 as a Lab Assistant in HILA labo, focusing on donor-recipient compatibility testing and HLA typing. Alexandra also gained significant research experience as an Associate Scientist at Tibotec from June 1998 to March 2010, where work concentrated on HIV, HCV, and RSV research. Earlier in the career, Alexandra was a Lab Assistant at AZ-VUB from March 1994 to May 1998, contributing to diabetes research with an emphasis on pancreatic B-cell transplantation. Academic qualifications include a degree in Clinical Chemistry from SITO Mechelen (1989-1991) and a secondary education in Sciences II from Lyceum Mechelen (1983-1988).
