Yuan Yuan

Yuan Yuan is an accomplished scientist with extensive experience in AAV capsid engineering and gene therapy. Currently serving as Associate Scientific Director at Biogen since June 2020, Yuan has previously held roles as Principal Scientist and Senior Scientist, focusing on AAV capsid engineering at GTxAU. Prior to Biogen, Yuan worked at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine from January 2018 to June 2020 as a Senior Research Investigator, where significant contributions included identifying LY6A as a receptor for AAV-PHP and involvement in gene therapy programs for lysosomal storage diseases. Yuan's earlier research at Rockefeller University from March 2008 to December 2017 in Robert Darnell's lab led to pioneering work in neuronal gene regulation and RNA-protein interactions, with notable achievements including the generation of conditional knockout mouse lines and extensive training of graduate students. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Florida and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Wuhan University.
