Automation Engineer II at Biomason

Kyle Smith has been working in the field of laboratory automation since 2013. Kyle began their career as a Technician Assistant at George Mason University, and then moved on to Advanced Laboratories Inc. as a Laboratory Technician in 2017. In the same year, they joined Novozymes as a Research Associate II, where they served as an internal automation consultant for R&D, delivering automated assays and high-throughput processing of batch fermentations using Hamilton MLSTAR liquid handlers. Kyle was also influential in supporting and integrating an automated -80C storage system for biological samples, and assisted in a large scale bio-control project using genetic algorithms to increase efficacy of product. In 2022, they joined Biomason as a Laboratory Automation Engineer.

Kyle Smith attended George Mason University from 2012 to 2016, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In 2017, they attended Wake Technical Community College and obtained a Biowork Process Technician degree in Biomanufacturing. In 2018, they obtained a VENUS Software Training I certification from Hamilton Company.
