Leila Jowkarderis

Leila Jowkarderis, PhD, PEng, is a highly skilled engineering professional with extensive experience in project management and engineering leadership within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Currently serving as Director of Global Project Engineering at BioNTech SE, Leila leads the development of an mRNA vaccine manufacturing facility in Singapore, overseeing various functional areas and managing multidisciplinary teams. Previous roles include Project Manager at BioNTech, Engineering Project Manager at Qualtech, and Process Engineer at Mirexus Biotechnologies. Leila holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from McGill University, as well as an MSc and BSc from Sharif University of Technology. Leila's expertise encompasses project design, execution, optimization, and cross-departmental collaboration, with a strong focus on safety, budget management, and stakeholder communication.
