Jay is a partner at Cooley LLP, a global law firm with over 900 attorneys. Clients partner with Cooley on transformative deals, complex IP and regulatory matters, and high-stakes litigation, focusing on the space where innovation meets the law. Jay was elected to the Board of Birch Family Services in 2014 and currently serves on the audit and finance subcommittee and compliance subcommittee. Jay initially became aware of Birch Family Services through our revolutionary New Frontier program, which connects young adults through internships and volunteerism with a growing network of forward-thinking corporate and community partners. Jay is the chair of Cooley LLP’s international business restructuring and reorganization practice group, and he leads a team of lawyers who play key roles in some of the most complex and high-profile bankruptcy and restructuring cases throughout the U.S., U.K. and other countries. He was named by the Global M&A Network to its Top 100 Restructuring and Turnaround list, which recognizes “the most accomplished, influential, innovative and brilliant” consultants, investment bankers and lawyers from the global restructuring, distressed M&A and insolvency communities.

Since 1975, Birch Family Services has served over 20,000 people with autism and developmental disabilities and their families throughout New York City. Today, they are a provider of educational and long-term support in 30 locations in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Their programs have expanded over the years and now include a wide array of individualized, person-centered services. Birch’s programs have helped people with autism and developmental disabilities and their families navigate significant transitions across the life cycle for more than 40 years.
