Richard De Silva has a diverse work experience in marketing and creative roles. Richard started their career as a Creative Director at Define74 from 2000 to 2004. Richard then worked as an Art Director at St. Lukes Advertising from 2004 to 2005. After that, Richard served as a Creative Director at Furst Media from 2005 to 2007, where they directed creative projects for fashion and retail clients. From 2008 to 2010, Richard worked as a Worldwide Communications Manager at Blackmagic Design, where they managed creative marketing on a global scale. Richard then progressed to the role of Director of Product Marketing at Blackmagic Design, DaVinci, and Echolab, where they were responsible for the marketing and strategic management of visual components for their product range.

Richard De Silva attended Beaconhills College from 1987 to 1992, but no degree or field of study was specified. From 1993 to 1995, they studied at Chisholm Institute and earned an Associate Diploma of Graphic Art in the field of Design & Finished Art. More recently, from 2013 to 2014, Richard studied at TAFE NSW and completed an Advanced Diploma of Marketing in the field of Marketing.
