Jay Prater is a versatile media professional with extensive experience in video production, animation, web design, and radio broadcasting. Currently serving as Senior Graphics Producer at Blue Ridge PBS since March 2023, Jay specializes in producing video and motion graphics for broadcast TV and online streaming. Previous roles include Animator/Video Producer at WFXR News, where Jay focused on motion design and video production, and Webmaster for WVTF/RADIO IQ, managing web design and new media initiatives. Additional experience encompasses hosting a daytime talk show, directing programming and marketing for radio stations, and graphic design for advertising. Jay holds a degree from Ferrum College.

Based in Roanoke, Va., Blue Ridge PBS is comprised of four broadcast television channels: WBRA-TV 15.1, Southwest Virginia PTV 15.2, Blue Ridge PBS Kids 15.3 and Blue Ridge PBS Create 15.4. In addition, Blue Ridge PBS has two streaming channels: Blue Ridge Streaming and Project Southwest. Project Southwest focuses on sharing the sights, sounds and stories of far Southwest Virginia with people from all over the world.
