Rusmat Ahmed has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Starting in 1985, Ahmed worked as a Navigator for the Royal Air Force until 1996. Rusmat then transitioned to a variety of positions at Thales, including Business Development Manager, Strategy & Marketing Manager, and Director of Communications & Surveillance, where they managed projects, led strategic planning, and achieved successful product launches. From 1999 to 2006, Ahmed served as the Director of the Military Avionics Business Unit at Thales, growing the business by 25% and winning a significant order from a major OEM. At Thales, Ahmed also worked as the Business Director for Platform Operational Services, overseeing a £6bn Search & Rescue - Helicopter (SAR-H) PFI bid and leading a lobbying campaign. After leaving Thales, Ahmed joined AQUILA ATMS as the Operations Director, overseeing a £1.5bn bid for the Project MARSHALL with the UK MOD. Following this role, Ahmed worked at Thales again as the Head of Strategy & Product Lines, devising strategies to position the company in selected sectors of the Land Defence market. In 2013, Ahmed worked as the Regional Sales Director for L-3 Link Simulation & Training UK, and later as the Director for BrightStar Associates. Since 2014, Ahmed has held various leadership positions at Bohemia Interactive Simulations, including SVP Sales EMEA and Asia and SVP Sales EMEA.

Rusmat Ahmed completed an MBA degree at INSEAD in 1998. Prior to that, from 1991 to 1994, Ahmed pursued a Bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of York. In 1982 and 1983, Ahmed attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, where the field of study was also Economics, though the specific degree obtained is unknown.
