Booker T. Washington Academy
Denise Hickmon has significant experience in education, currently serving as a Second Grade Teacher and Team Lead at Booker T. Washington Academy since August 2014, and previously as a Third Grade Teacher and Lead Family Intervention Specialist in the same institution. In early 2024, Denise took on the role of Saturday Academy Director, overseeing program operations to enhance student preparedness for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium. Prior to their tenure at Booker T. Washington Academy, Denise worked as a Pre-K Head Teacher at Lulac Head Start Inc from September 2007 to August 2014. Denise holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Southern Connecticut State University, an Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education from CT State Norwalk, and a Master's Degree in Education specializing in Reading and Literacy from Walden University, along with a certificate from Relay Graduate School of Education.
