Dr. Cihan Atar

Chief Engineer, Pipeline Integrity Management at BOTAŞ

Dr. Cihan Atar currently serves as the Chief Engineer of Pipeline Integrity Management at BOTAS, a position held since September 2013, where responsibilities include analyzing In-Line Inspection reports, assessing the condition and fitness-for-purpose of natural gas pipelines, coordinating maintenance and repair operations, and overseeing offshore pipeline inspections. Prior to this role, Dr. Atar was an Engineer in the same department, contributing to similar tasks. Additionally, Dr. Atar gained experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Florida, focusing on gas turbine cooling, and as a Research Assistant at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics, where work involved numerical simulations of turbine blades. Dr. Atar holds multiple degrees, including a PhD in Energy Systems Engineering from Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt Üniversitesi and a Master’s in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida, complemented by extensive internships in various engineering firms.
