Thato Tsalaile is the Lead of the Information Systems & Technologies Division at the Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI) since July 2014. Prior experience includes positions as Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Signal Processing and Digital Systems at the University of Botswana from September 2011 to July 2014, and as a Lecturer in the same field from August 2002 to August 2011. Earlier in career, Thato served as a Project Engineer at MF Kent from August 1997 to August 2000. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Electronic Systems Engineering with a specialization in Signal Processing from Loughborough University (2006-2008), an MBA from the University of Botswana (2000-2005), an MSc in Electronic Engineering from Cardiff University (2001-2002), and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Botswana (1994-1997), along with training in Big Data and Social Analytics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Corporate Profile Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI) was established in 2012 as a Government of the Republic of Botswana company limited by guarantee, to conduct needs-based research and development in focused areas, in accordance with national priorities. BITRI falls under the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology (MOTE).
