Boyce Thompson Institute
Eric Lyons is currently serving as a Rotating Program Director at the National Science Foundation within the Directorate of Biological Sciences and Division of Biological Infrastructure since January 2024. Concurrently, Eric holds the positions of Vice Chair of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Scientific Advisor Board at the Boyce Thompson Institute, and has been a Professor and Adjunct Professor in Plant Sciences at the University of Arizona since September 2010. Additionally, Eric has served as Chief Scientific Officer at uPetsia since March 2021 and previously held roles such as Program Director at NSF and Senior Scientific Developer at the iPlant Collaborative. Eric completed a PhD in Plant Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, where further postdoctoral research took place. Early career experiences include roles in computational biology and bioinformatics at Berlex Biosciences and the Molecular Sciences Institute.
