William Bain is an experienced policy expert with a strong background in trade policy and legislative roles. Currently serving as the Head of Trade Policy at the British Chambers of Commerce since June 2021, Bain leads the development of policies related to UK-EU and UK-RoW trade issues. Previous roles include serving as a Policy Advisor at the British Retail Consortium, where Bain focused on trade policy responses during Brexit, and as the Head of Fintech and Financial Services Policy at Inline Policy. Bain has also held significant political positions, including Labour MP for Glasgow North East, where responsibilities included scrutiny of legislation and serving on various committees. Educational qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Constitutional Law and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law, all from the University of Strathclyde.
