BC College of Nurses and Midwives
BCCNM is the provincial regulator for all nurses and midwives in British Columbia. We regulate the four nursing designations--licensed practical nurses (LPN), nurse practitioners (NP), registered nurses (RN) and registered psychiatric nurses (RPN)--as well as registered midwives (RM). Our purpose is to ensure the public receives safe, competent, and ethical nursing and midwifery care. BCCNM was established Sep. 1, 2020, through the amalgamation of the BC College of Nursing Professionals and the College of Midwives of BC. This amalgamation is in line with the Ministry of Health's ongoing efforts to streamline and modernize health profession regulation in B.C. The new college is the first nurse and midwife regulator in Canada, and the largest regulator in Western Canada, overseeing 68,500 registrants.
