Ted Liefeld has extensive experience in software architecture and project management, currently serving as the Lead Software Architect at the University of California, San Diego since July 2015, focusing on advancements in scientific software applications. Additionally, since July 2023, Ted is an instructor for the California Motorcycle Safety Program, teaching motorcycle riding and hazard response skills. With a long tenure at the Broad Institute, Ted has contributed to cancer research as the Chief Software Architect for the Cancer Program and has previously led the GenePattern development team. Prior positions include Lead Software Architect at Millennium Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Senior Consultant at GemStone Systems Inc. Ted holds a Master’s degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Western University.
