Job Summary:

Broadcast Management Group is looking for a full-time Technical Manager (TM) to provide ongoing support for BMG Remote Productions, manage the pre-deployment of production equipment, including testing all equipment, packing all gear, managing the inventory of all equipment leaving the BMG facility, unpacking on location, repacking for departure, and checking back in at the network center.

The TM will oversee the local crew on site for each production assigned, including checking in crew, meal breaks, and final departure times at the end of each day.  This position will assign crew members responsibilities on-site and oversee the quality control of each crew member.   The TM will communicate with the on-site EIC about any issues.  The TM will report any crew issues to the assigned BMG production manager and provide a crew assessment after each production to the production manager.

The TM must have extensive experience working in live, multi-camera production environments and events and strong industry connections. Ideal candidates must be very outgoing, have strong presentation skills, and have a track record of building long-term client and vendor relationships. This is a client-facing position that will require extensive travel and working on weekends and holidays. The schedule for this position will change from week to week.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serves as the Lead Tech Manager on assigned productions.
  • Directly managing all Tech aspects at the location
  • Ensure the client and vendors have a positive BMG experience.
  • Provide exceptional customer service with Venue/Client to ensure a smooth operation.
  • Manage timely arrival of RMUs/Shipping, Park & Power & Internet, and efficient deployment of equipment at a gig.
  • Coordination with the BMG truck drivers related to arrival and departure times, parking and power
  • Responsible for pre-testing at the BMG warehouse and packing for all assigned productions, ensuring all cases were labelled and inventoried.
  • Responsible for the unpacking of all equipment on location and for the repacking of all equipment ensuring everything on site makes it back into the correct case and is free of any damage
  • Checking back in at the BMG Homebase all equipment, ensuring everything is returned, in good condition and cleaned
  • Manage on-site crew schedules – load-in/set, meeting, shoot, strike, etc. work to minimize OT for all crew.
  • Manage timely departure of production trucks/equipment
  • Actively troubleshoot current/future issues.
  • Communicate all aspects of the show with the client, crew, talent, producer, director, etc.
  • Works with the EIC to continue to streamline operations.
  • Proactively supporting all aspects of the show from start to finish.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant live broadcast remote production experience
  • Production technical management experience
  • Project management experience
  • 2+ years’ experience working in remote production and or working on production trucks
  • Experience managing teams
  • Experience building schedules and managing deliverables
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Docs
