Nancy Brown is currently an advisor at the Brooklyn Museum. Nancy has held various positions in the educational and nonprofit sectors throughout their career. In 2012, they became the education coordinator for Projeto TAMAR, a Brazilian sea turtle conservation organization. Nancy held this position until 2013 when they left to co-found Diaspora Solidaria, a solidarity-based organization that works to connect people of the diaspora with social justice movements in their countries of origin. Nancy has also worked as a research assistant and editor for the Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College and as a consultant for the NYC Board of Education. From 1996 to 2004, they were a co-founder and coordinator of Sista II Sista: Freedom School for Young Women of Color. Nancy is also a founding member of El Puente Academy for Peace and Justice, where they served as an integrated arts handbook consultant, academy facilitator, and bi-literacy coordinator from 1996 to 2003.
Nancy Brown has a Masters in International Educational Development from Teachers College, Columbia University. Nancy also has a Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies and Portuguese & Brazilian Studies from Brown University. Nancy also has a Bachelor's degree from Brown University. Nancy is also certified from McKinsey & Company in Business Strategy.
