Matías Rodríguez Inciarte

Joined the Board in January 2019 and is a member of the Risk and Audit Committees.

Matías provides experience of Spanish financial services, risk management and government to the Board.

Matías is currently a Non-Executive Director of Sanitas, S.A. de Seguros, Bupa’s Spanish health insurance business, Chairman of Unión de Créditos Inmobiliarios, S.A., E.F.C., a Non-Executive Director of Financiera El Corte Inglés E.F.C., S.A, both credit institutions, and an Independent Director of Financiera Ponferrada SA Sicav, a Spanish investment fund. He is also Head of Santander Universities, a Department of Banco Santander in charge of Santander’s Program with Universities.

Matías’ early career included roles in the Spanish civil service and as a Minister in Spanish Government. He then held a number of executive roles at Banco Santander SA including Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and Vice Chairman and Head of Risk Management. He has also been Head of Princess of Asturias Foundation.
