Vice President, People Support at Cafe Zupas

Carl Sokia, SHRM-SCP has a diverse work experience, primarily in the field of human resources. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President, People Support at Cafe Zupas since February 2023. Before that, they founded and served as the Chief Executive Officer of Experience Management Solutions since April 2019.

Prior to their current roles, Sokia worked at Grand America Hotels & Resorts from March 2015 to April 2019, where they served as the Executive Director of People Operations and Vice President of Human Resources. Carl also held the position of Director of Human Resources at Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort from June 2014 to March 2015.

Before joining Grand Wailea, Sokia was the Director of Human Resources at St. Regis Princeville Resort from December 2011 to June 2014. Carl also worked as the Director of Human Resources at Sheraton Steamboat Resort from January 2008 to December 2011.

Earlier in their career, Sokia held various managerial positions in the hospitality industry, such as Complex Recruitment & Training Manager at The Grand America Hotel from July 2006 to January 2008, Corporate Recruitment & Employment Manager at Gemstone Hotels and Resorts from August 2005 to July 2006, and had multiple roles at Radisson from August 2003 to August 2005, starting as a Shuttle Driver and advancing to become the Front Office Manager.

Carl Sokia, SHRM-SCP, has pursued education in the field of Business Administration. Carl attended Westminster University, where they studied Business Administration. Additionally, they enrolled at Utah Valley University, focusing on General Education, Business Administration, and Management. Carl also pursued General Education at Salt Lake Community College.

In terms of certifications, Carl has obtained several credentials to enhance their professional expertise. In 2018, they earned the SHRM-SCP (SHRM Senior Certified Professional) certification from SHRM. This certification demonstrates their comprehensive knowledge and skills in strategic human resource management. Furthermore, Carl acquired the SOCIAL STYLE™ Self-Perception Accreditation and BEHAVIORAL EQ® Accreditation from the TRACOM Group in May 2019, indicating their proficiency in understanding behavioral styles and emotional intelligence. Carl also obtained the Platinum PRINT® Coach Certification and the Best Self Survey PRINT® 360 Certification from The Paul Hertz Group in July 2019 and August 2022, respectively. Additionally, Carl acquired the SHRM Recertification Provider certification from SHRM in October 2021.
