Mary Kapusta has held various roles throughout their work experience. Mary began their career as a HarbourKids Camp Director at Harbourfront Centre. Mary then worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Toronto. Following this, they served as the Competitions Coordinator at The Writers' Union of Canada (TWUC) and as a Newsletter Editor at IBBY Canada. Mary then joined Kids Can Press as a Publicist, where they promoted the bestselling Scaredy Squirrel series and developed online marketing initiatives. After that, they became the Marketing Manager at Wordfest, where they managed marketing activities and revitalized social media platforms. Mary then transitioned to the National Music Centre, where they held roles as the Marketing and Public Relations Manager, Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications, and Director of Marketing and Communications. Currently, Mary works as the Director of Communications and Engagement at the Calgary Public Library.
Mary Kapusta has a diverse education history. In 2022, they obtained a Workplace Mental Health Leadership Certificate from Queen's University. In 2020, they completed online courses in Diversity and Inclusion Fundamentals and Unconscious Bias at the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion. That same year, Mary also received a Certificate in Reconciliation Education from the First Nations University of Canada. In 2013, they completed the Rosza Arts Management Program at the Haskayne School of Business, specializing in Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management. Prior to that, in 2005, they earned an HBA degree in English Specialist from the University of Toronto - University of St. Michael's College. In 2002, Mary studied Journalism at Carleton University.
