Chief Business Officer at Calico

Jonathan W. Lewis is Calico’s chief business officer, responsible for supporting the company’s growth through partnerships and collaborations.

Jonathan brings over 15 years of business development experience in the life sciences. He joined Calico from UCB Pharma, based in Brussels, where he was vice president of global business development, responsible for the company’s worldwide partnering transactions since 2011.

Prior to UCB, Jonathan served as director and M&A project leader responsible for leading merger and acquisition transactions for the Roche Group. Before joining Roche, Jonathan worked for almost 10 years at Genentech, most recently as head of oncology business development. In this role he was responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing a number of Genentech’s business development partnerships as well as investments for Genentech’s venture fund. Earlier in his career, Jonathan worked in investment banking in the mergers and acquisitions group at Credit Suisse First Boston in London.

Jonathan holds a doctorate in immunology from the University of Oxford where he was a Wellcome Trust Prize Student. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, also from the University of Oxford.
