Xiyun Yang

Xiyun Yang is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in civil rights enforcement and a robust background in writing and research. Currently serving as a Deputy Attorney General in the Civil Rights Enforcement Section at the California Department of Justice since July 2019, Xiyun Yang has previously held positions as a Staff Attorney at the Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking, and as an Associate at Covington & Burling LLP and Debevoise & Plimpton. Earlier experience includes a role as a News Researcher at The New York Times and various freelance writing projects for notable publications, alongside internships at The Washington Post and New York County Defender Services. Xiyun Yang holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School and a BA in International Relations and Comparative Literature from Brown University.
