Mahesh Gautam is a seasoned water resources engineer with extensive experience in both research and practical applications in the field. Currently serving as a Senior Water Resources Engineer at the California Department of Water Resources since April 2012, Mahesh has previously held positions such as Water Resources Engineer and Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Desert Research Institute. Additionally, Mahesh contributed as a Lecturer at the Institute of Engineering in Nepal and served as a Senior Research Scientist and Water Resources Program Coordinator at the Nepal Development Research Institute. Earlier experience includes a researcher role at the Geosphere Research Institute, Saitama University, where Mahesh also completed a Ph.D. in Hydrology. Academic qualifications also include a Master of Engineering in Water Resources Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Punjab Engineering College.
