Jen Ortiz

Jen Ortiz is an experienced educator and librarian with a diverse background in tutoring, health literacy, and library services. Currently serving as a Tutor Educator/Senior Session Monitor at Ignite Reading, Jen utilizes a Science of Reading-based curriculum to support elementary students in developing strong reading foundations. Jen has also worked as an English Second Language Tutor at Cambly Inc., conducting over 2100 lessons for a global student base. Previous roles include Health Literacy & Membership Specialist/Librarian for the Network of the National Library of Medicine, Outreach and Collection Management Librarian at the Desoto Public Library, and various positions at the Dallas Public Library, focusing on reference services and adult programming. Jen holds a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor's Degree in Latin American Studies from Tulane University.
