Isobel Hooper has worked in a variety of roles since 2005. Isobel began their career as a Technical Author and Content Developer at Jagex in 2005. In 2008, they moved to Red Gate Software as a Test Engineer, where they tested new features of existing products, reported bugs, and performed thorough release tests of new versions of SQL Server administration products. In 2009, they joined NetBanx Ltd as a Customer Relations Engineer, configuring customer integrations with the Netbanx payment portal. In 2010, they began working at ARM as a Senior Software Engineer and Engineer, where they designed and implemented database storage and XML output to automate documentation of the ARM architecture. In 2017, they moved to Eagle Genomics Ltd as a Software Developer, where they were responsible for back-end web development. Finally, in 2018, they joined Undo Ltd. as a Test and Infrastructure Engineer, where they prototyped, advocated, designed and led a rewrite of their licensing and download system from legacy CGI to a pair of Django websites hosted on Dokku. In 2020, they began working at Cambridge Quantum as a Senior Software Engineer and Web Administrator/Developer.

Isobel Hooper's education history began in 1994 when they attended Haberdashers' Aske's School for Girls until 2001. Isobel then pursued a BA (Hons) Cantab from the University of Cambridge, majoring in Part I Mathematics and Part II Linguistics from 2001 to 2005. In 2007, they returned to the University of Cambridge to complete their MPhil in Computer Speech, Text and Internet Technology, which they finished in 2008.
