With over fifteen years’ experience in the Private Equity field, Sara Shackelford serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Canapi Ventures.
Prior to joining Canapi, Sara was the Controller at Updata Partners, a D.C. based growth equity fund where she managed the operations of several funds and maintained oversight of the management company. Before her time at Updata, Sara spent five years at Adams Street Partners, a fund-of-funds based in Chicago. She began her career working in the finance group at Benchmark Capital, an early-stage venture firm in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Sara has a Master of Science in Accountancy from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is a Certified Public Accountant in Washington, D.C.
