Paul Prager has a diverse range of work experience in various industries. Paul started their career in the United States Navy as a Fire Room Supervisor from 1980 to 1986. Following that, they worked as an HVAC Operations Group Supervisor at the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority from 1989 to 2009. In 2008, they joined Ameritac as a Utilities Manager and stayed until 2013. From 2009 to 2014, they worked as a Utilities Supervisor at Aleut Management Services. Paul then joined Capitol Boiler Works and took on multiple roles, including Preventative Maintenance/ Safety Manager in 2013 and Vice President of Services in 2021.

Paul Prager attended the Navy Boiler Class A school in 1980 to study boiler plant operation. In 2008, they received education in job site safety. Additionally, they also received training in confined space entry.
