Nigel Francis

Nigel Francis is a Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University since August 2021, specializing in Biochemistry and Genetics with a focus on Immunology. Previously, Nigel held positions as Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at Swansea University from September 2011 to July 2021. Nigel is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and is currently pursuing a PGCert in Teaching in Higher Education. As Director of Dragons 7s from May 2011 to August 2017, Nigel developed a successful elite women's rugby team that competed at a high level in the UK. Additionally, Nigel worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Cardiff University from September 2008 to August 2011, focusing on research related to complement system polymorphisms and their role in chronic diseases. Nigel earned a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Birmingham and a MPharmacol in Pharmacology from the University of Bath, along with a PGCert in Higher Education from Swansea University.
