Dr Yong got her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore. Then she completed her psychiatry residency and geriatric psychiatry fellowship in the United States of America. She is board certified in psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
After her training, Dr Yong worked as an attending psychiatrist at Maimonides Medical Center Community Mental Health Outpatient Clinic in New York City.
Upon her return to Singapore, Dr Yong has worked as Consultant Psychiatrist in the Psychological Medicine Department of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. She is currently a psychiatrist in private practice.

Care Corner Singapore is a non-profit organization established in 1981, with an IPC status and 37 service points island-wide. They continuously respond to the changing needs of individuals and families - evolving and growing as a social service agency to offer a wide range of programmes and services delivered through their 33 centers located island-wide and their network of partners and volunteers.
