Kay Townsend

Kay Townsend, CPC, has extensive experience in healthcare management, currently serving as the Clinic Practice Manager for the Hospitalist practice at Carilion Clinic since October 2006. In this role, Kay oversees a significant hospitalist practice within Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Previous experience includes managing a team of 17-18 coding consultants at Carilion Clinic, focusing on professional coding education for providers and their staff. Before joining Carilion Clinic, Kay worked at HCA Physician Services, specifically with Lewis Gale Physicians from April 1995 to June 2006. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Business Administration in Health Care Administration/Management from Western Governors University (2022-2024) and an Associate's degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Phoenix (2010-2011), along with a high school diploma from Pelion High School (1987-1990).
