Benedict Schmidt

Benedict Schmidt is a seasoned professional in IT strategic initiatives, currently serving as the Manager of IT Strategic Initiatives at Carleton University since 2006. Notable achievements include receiving multiple Service Excellence awards and a nomination for the Betty Weiss Breakthrough Leadership award. Benedict played a key role in the development and implementation of the IT Strategic Plan from 2013 to 2016 and is part of the core team behind the institutional Digital Strategy. Prior experience includes working as an Advisor in Internet Technologies at Nortel Networks, where significant contributions were made to major tech conferences and recognition was received through the President’s 'Spirit of Nortel' award. Benedict also held the position of Network Architect at Bell-Northern Research, where a large global network was architected. Educational qualifications include a Master of Business Administration from Smith School of Business at Queen's University and a Bachelor of Engineering from Carleton University.
