Mike Hildebrand has extensive experience in academia and research, currently serving as Associate Vice-Provost for Graduate Student Affairs and Professor at Carleton University since July 2013. Previously, Mike held positions such as Acting Associate Dean in the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs and transitioned through ranks from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor. Prior to Carleton University, Mike was a Research Fellow at Sick Kids Hospital from August 2010 to June 2013, focusing on ion channels in spinal cord pain signaling. An Industrial R&D Fellow at Zalicus Incorporated from September 2008 to August 2010, Mike developed assays for pain-specific spinal cord neurons and contributed to the identification of novel ion channel antagonists. Mike completed a PhD in Neuroscience at The University of British Columbia from 2002 to 2008, where research centered on the modulation of voltage-gated calcium channels by membrane receptors in the central nervous system.
