Anne-Marie Akin

Songwriting Teaching Artist/ National Lullaby Project at Carnegie Hall

Anne-Marie Akin is a seasoned Library Consultant and Musician in Residence at Start Early, with extensive experience in music education and community outreach since 2007. Akin actively serves as a Lyricist and Composer for Listen Up Chicago, highlighting local heroes through music. In addition to working at the Old Town School of Folk Music as a Teaching Artist, Akin has developed comprehensive music curriculums and innovative programs for early childhood and adult learners. Collaborative projects include creating a unique oral-history song cycle and a partnership with Carnegie Hall's National Lullaby Project, assisting teen mothers in writing personal lullabies. Akin's educational background includes a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Northwestern University and a Bachelor's degree in Theatre/Media Arts from Rhodes College.
