Karl Schaefer is a seasoned software architect with extensive experience in developing and managing software solutions for education and various applications. Currently serving as a Senior Software Architect at Carnegie Learning since November 2015, Karl leads a full-stack team and has previously held roles including Front End Architect and Manager of Client Applications. Prior to this, Karl worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Apollo Education Group, where responsibilities included designing responsive web applications, and held positions at Carnegie Learning and SwingLabs focusing on user interface design and next-generation Swing components. Karl's earlier career includes significant contributions as a Senior Software Engineer at Westinghouse Electric Company, Director of Technical Operations at iCarnegie, and Adjunct Faculty at CCAC. Karl holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from DePaul University and a Bachelor’s degree in Latin and English from the University of Notre Dame.
