Heather Jones

Heather Jones is an accomplished robotics researcher with extensive experience in planetary exploration and terrain modeling. Currently serving as a Senior Project Scientist at Carnegie Mellon University since August 2009, Heather's work focuses on robotic exploration of celestial bodies, including the Moon and Mars, alongside modeling planetary terrain features and planning for robotic operations in extreme environments. Previous roles include Project Scientist, Postdoctoral Fellow, and NASA Space Technology Research Fellow Intern at NASA Ames Research Center, as well as Research Liaison at Astrobotic Technology, Inc. Heather holds a PhD and Master's degree in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University, complementing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Computer Science from Swarthmore College.
